Tender Weather
Havana was enduring fuel shortages, rolling blackouts, and deepening economic hardship. But it wasn't the crisis that drew me back to Cuba again and again—it was what remained within it.
Over multiple visits between late 2025 and early 2026, I found myself spending less time in the streets and more time in living rooms, kitchens, bedrooms, and improvised living spaces. There I found the quiet ways people held life together—through small gestures, shared routines, moments of humor, affection, and care. The photographs in this book grew from those invitations.
The longer I stayed, the more those rooms seemed to have a climate of their own. What emerged was not a portrait of Cuba as a postcard, but of people sustaining life together through proximity, family, faith, and habit. Outside, conditions grew harsh. Inside, the weather remained tender.

Because this book is built on the trust of the families who welcomed me into their lives, 100% of the proceeds from Tender Weather will be used to purchase medicine and other essential supplies that remain difficult to obtain in Cuba. During future visits, I will personally carry these goods to Havana and deliver them directly to the families and communities who welcomed me into their homes.
